Trapper Creek, Alaska

Today's drive was one of the prettiest since we left home. The Alaska Range of mountains was gorgeous. Of course I had an eagle eye out for any signs of Mt McKinley (Denali) but never saw it.

We pulled in to Trapper Creek nice and early then headed to Talkeetna for a look around. It was a nice little town, with one main street. There were a number of tour buses for Cruise ship land tours, which seems to be a big part of the economy in these types of towns.
We ended with a beer in a cool outdoor restaurant.

In what is really a weird set of circumstances, we ran into the group of kids in the picture above. Les had sent a text message to Dave Frazier, a friend of his for 35 years, that he worked with in Phoenix at Jack In the Box, asking if Dave was going to be in Anchorage at all in the next couple of weeks. Dave has 3 of his  kids that moved up to Alaska in the last couple of years. Dave and his wife Gigi love to go up and visit. During the coarse of the text message exchange, Les mentioned we were in Talkeetna. Dave said his kids were in Talkeetna as well and sent a picture. It turned out that they were sitting 10 feet from us at the next table over. What an incredibly small world. Nancy had babysat Ryan (closest to Les) when he was little. His younger brother Alex and sister Morgan are in the photo with Morgans husband. We are going to see them again Friday night when we go to Anchorage, they are all working at a popular Ale House where we will go eat dinner.
