The Last Flag Train in America

It is called this, because you can stand next to the tracks anywhere on the route, and the train will stop and pick you up, or drop you off anywhere along the route.

Beautiful downtown Talkeetna

Lunch before the train ride at the Denali Brewing Company

Les liked to ride at the end of the car where everything coupled together, it was open to the outside and all the sounds of the train. Of coarse it was also open to the weather, which was cold with occasional rain, but the picture taking was better.

The scenery was fantastic- no roads, no man made structures. Just nature.

This was one of the dirt trails that led to someones "off the grid" residence. The train is their only way to travel to town. There are a little over 100 "residences" along the train route. The trains conductor knows all of them. Some have been featured on different tv shows about Alaska.
