Denali Day #3
Today we took a hike . We actually took 2 hikes.
First up was the Horseshoe Lake Trail past Beaver Dam. We also went to the shore of the Nenana river.
The trail had a few obstacles, some bigger than others.
If you look closely at the picture above there is a dot at the edge of the pond that is a moose. By the time we got down to the lake, it had moved on, which might have been a good thing. Moose have been known to take offense to humans being in their way.
In the picture above I'm standing next to a beaver dam.
We actually saw a beaver today. It was much larger than we expected when we saw it on the shoreline, then it got into the water and swam toward us for a while. We stood quietly and watched him for a while, he didn't seem to mind.
After a short break we headed out on the Triple Lakes Trail.
Super cool suspension bridge over the Riley Creek River. It had some sway to it- depending on how much you weigh. Les hardly noticed. He jumped up and down, but was foiled by the engineering.
The trail got a little narrower the higher up the mountain we went. It rained the entire time we hiked, a nice steady light rain that made things slippery in places.
This is picture of Nancy straight down the hill, it took several switchbacks in the trail to get down there.
Same picture, just the effect of the zoom lens. It was still a long way down.
