Fort Nelson to Muncho Lake
Today's drive was a slow one, average speed 44mph. The Al-Can here is a narrow 2 lane road that winds around through the Northern Rockies. It goes up and down ravines and over rivers. It was a very pretty.
The picture above is a gravel stretch in the road. It was not the only one!Watching for falling rock is a favorite past time these days. We are not really sure what we will do if we see one falling at us, the RV does not stop on a dime, and there is no place to swerve, and there are no guard rails. It all seems pointless.
Our spot at the Northern Rockies Lodge and RV Park is right on the lake. It is a small resort on a wide spot in the road. The parking spot was really tight between trees, we had to pull way forward in order to get the slides out, and that put us on a big down slope. We had enough 2x12 boards to drive up on to get the front fairly level.
Took this picture of the lake down the road from the park. The lake is much bigger than we thought.
The lodge has some rooms that are hotel style, and some cabins along the water edge. There is a restaurant, and of coarse, a bar. The selections way up here are not great- no cider, no local brews.
