Valleyview to Dawson Creek, BC

We have arrived at mile zero of the Al-Can Hwy.

Dawson City, BC. We drove from our sweet little RV Park to Northern Light's RV park. A nice short and easy drive. We had one part of the road that was a 10% grade down and then back up, those are a challenge with the weight of the coach and truck. We stopped in Grand Prairie at a Walmart Superstore for a few groceries and soda. We can never tell when civilization as we know it will disappear.

After we arrived at the RV park and got settled, we took the truck into town and found the Brown Socialhouse, a local pub and eatery. We had the usual couple of pints of local beer and cider, and some wings for an appetizer. The hot sauce they made up special for Les was actually really hot, a first for the Canadian's. The food up here is bland as a general rule. Even the grocery stores don't have anything spicy in them- no Pepperjack cheese, no salsa to speak of, no fresh peppers. The local fare does include a huge segment of Asian foods, especially Korean, Japanese, and Vietnamese.

The satellite on the RV has finally stopped working. We had wondered how far north it would work. The satellite for Direct TV is now below the horizon, so we will have to rely on the cable TV provided by the RV parks and the DVD's we brought.

It has stayed light until after 10:30pm until now. We crossed into the Pacific time zone today and moved further North, so we figure it'll be dusk around 11:30pm tonight.

We found a small leak during a heavy downpour yesterday and Les has put more sealant on the roof. That's Les on the roof. Also had our first significant window chip and the start of a crack, that Les used the repair kit on. We have a glass repair company coming on Monday to do a proper repair, if that is possible
We saw our first wolf while driving, it was crossing the road so we could not get any pictures. It was so much bigger, and darker than the coyotes we are used to seeing. We were on a 4 lane divided road, and the wolf seemed very aware of the different travel lanes. It picked it's way across the 4 lanes, waiting patiently for the traffic to clear. Interesting.

Cool double rainbow in the Edmonton park.

We topped off the propane tank before we left. The service guy had a lot of advice about the Alaska Highway, and the damage it can do to the suspension of the rig. He showed us how to fix a couple of the more common problems, nice guy.
Boring stuff today, sorry guys.
